George and Margaret worked at various newspapers and were actively involved in politics. In 1943 she and George moved to Fort St. John where she started the Alaska Highway News. In 1971 she received the Order of Canada for her contributions to Canadian journalism and in that same year received an honorary doctorate from Simon Fraser University. George passed away in 1961.
